South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative, University of Cape Town
Dr. Scriba, Full Professor and SATVI Deputy Director Immunology (UCT), has led numerous studies aimed at identification and validation of human immune correlates of risk of TB. He has extensive experience in systems immunology and computational approaches to generate and parse high-dimensional data such as transcriptomics and proteomics, single cell TCR sequencing and cellular function, measured by mass and/or flow cytometry. Dr. Scriba was instrumental to the discovery and validation of a prognostic host blood mRNA signature of incipient TB and is a long-standing collaborator of Drs. Hatherill and Walzl; he and Dr. Hatherill also have collaborations with Dr. Sterling (PI) through an R01 grant to test biomarkers of incipient TB through RePORT Brazil. His role in the current project will be to support the Project Core and provide leadership and expertise to development of biomarkers of subclinical and incipient TB disease (Prognostic Biomarker Work Package).
