Dr. Cangelosi, Professor, University of Washington, has pioneered novel strategies aimed at improving TB diagnosis in the clinic and at point of care; highlights include an automated sputum sample preparation cartridge and the use of oral swab analysis as a promising, non-invasive alternative to sputum in TB diagnosis. Dr. Cangelosi, supported by Dr. Wood, will act as consultant to the project and will transfer the in-house (UW) Mtb PCR oral swab assay to a GeneXpert cartridge platform (UCT).
