Dr. Balamugesh is Professor and Head of Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Christian Medical College, Vellore India, which ranks among the top three medical colleges in India. His primary expertise includes tuberculosis and diagnostic procedures like bronchoscopy. He received Indian Council for Medical Research award in recognition for significant contributions to biomedical research – Smt. Kamal Satbir Award for the year 2006. He has co-authored chapters in 8 books and has 93 publications in national and international journals. He is co-chair of the clinical and epidemiological working group of Phase-II of RePORT India and chair of radiology working group.
