Annie Mayer Bridwell, D.V.M., Ph.D. is a Program Officer in the Therapeutics Research Program (TRP) at the Division of AIDS, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Her portfolio focuses on HIV/TB co-morbidity through the lens of model development, host-pathogen interactions, and drug/diagnostic development. While Dr. Bridwell’s portfolio emphasizes translational and preclinical research, it covers the gambit from basic science to clinical studies. Dr. Bridwell’s interest in global health and infectious disease began during her undergraduate studies at Kenyon College. She then completed her DVM at Virginia Tech and her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Bridwell entered the worlds of pre-clinical drug development and TB during her postdoc and beyond at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Serving as a Program Officer in TRP and for RePORT enables Dr. Bridwell to contribute solutions to some of the greatest global health challenges: infectious disease prevention and treatment.
